The Cambridge School offers highly competitive salaries for licensed and certified elementary teachers.
We're hiring for 2009-2010:
CNK= Cambridge North Kenwood, Chicago
Primary Class I, Primary Class II, Grammar Class I teachers
--provides innovative and engaging classroom instruction using methods
to reach children socially, academically, and spiritually.
Early childhood educators must be equipped with patience, love,
exciting methods of instruction, and a consistent and loving method
of discipline. Instruction includes phonics, math, oral reading,
memorization/recitation, dance, physical education, art, and nature studies.CNK
Grammar Classes (3rd – 6th) Math and Science teacher (FT)
--provides innovative and engaging classroom instruction to children at the
third, fourth and fifth grade levels with a core knowledge math and science
curriculum. Instruction includes use of Harcourt Math (primarily),
Singapore Math, Saxon Math and Everyday Math (as supplementals).
Science instruction is hands-on and inquiry based.
Full-time teaching position. CNK
After School Enrichment teachers--provides direct instruction and supervision of students and oversight of the enrichment programs. 3 hours, Monday-Friday, 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. CNK
Qualifications: Illinois teacher certification (or equivalent) preferred; 2+ years of teaching experience, preferred; agreement with Cambridge's Statement of Faith; completed application for employment; clean criminal history; philosophical match with Cambridge's educational approach. All applicants will go through a 30-day assessment process testing their knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Step 1: Initial Interest
- The Executive Director approves a job posting and
communicates this to the personnel committee.
- The interested applicant communicates to The Cambridge
School through letter, E-mail, phone, or walk-in, inquiring about job
openings.
- The interested applicant may send a resume to the
Executive Director.
- The interested applicant may visit and tour the school.
Step 2: Selection of Qualified Applicants
- The Executive Director invites applicants who make
it through candidate screening to complete an application with all supporting
documents for employment at The Cambridge School. The application is
available on the website, through E-mail, or via U. S. mail.
- The interested applicant completes the application
and returns it to The Cambridge School c/o the personnel committee.
- The personnel committee sends all interested applicants
a written notification, signed by the Executive Director, acknowledging
receipt of their application.
Step 3: Interview
The applicant chosen through the previous step will be scheduled
for an interview. The personnel committee will typically arrange for two
or more interviewers to be present.
Step 4: Candidate Screening
The personnel committee oversees reference and background screening
as required by law and recognized by the accrediting bodies of ACSI and
NAIS (through SACS).
Step 4: Offer Letter
- The Executive Director will send an offer letter to
the candidate for his/her signature.
- The offer letter will contain an explanation of the
job title, function, salary, benefits, and start date.
Step 5: New Employee Hired
- The applicant demonstrates eligibility for employment
in the United States.
- The new employee signs an employment-at-will annual
contract.
- The new employee completes tax forms.
- The new employee’s salary is communicated to
the payroll department.
- The new employee receives proper identification.
- The new employee receives an employee handbook and
becomes familiar with curriculum, policies, and procedures at The Cambridge
School.
- The new employee participates in new employee orientation
session.
- The new employee receives formal identification for
The Cambridge School.
- The new employee is formally introduced to the staff,
faculty, and Parent Involvement.
